AMY HAYASHI AND SHENAN
BROWN
October 2, 2006
Enchanted
forest...
When Amy and Shen first told
me about their vision for their wedding, I knew instantly that I would
LOVE creating their invitations. For their garden/forest theme, they
wanted to incorporate lots of greens and browns while working in elements
of nature. I had so many ideas to share with them, but we were also faced
with a bit of a time crunch and had all of two weeks to nail down the
design and have the invitations ready to mail! Thanks to my amazing paper
distributors and the quick responses I got from Amy and Shen in our daily
emails/phone calls, we were able to come up with a beautiful, and
absolutely unique, invitation design.
INVITATION (FRONT)
We chose a textured fiber leaf green mulberry paper for the invitation
shell. I softened the edges by hand-tearing them, and glued a 3"
skeleton bo leaf to the left panel. To add just a bit of elegance, three
crystal rhinestones were glued to the leaf.
INVITATION (INSIDE)
We selected a bronze metallic backing for contrast and used this same
paper for the custom die-cut tree branch. We went through many iterations
of the branch until we got just the right angle and thickness. To bring
the branch to life, three ivory paper flowers accented with crystal
rhinestones were added, as well as a handful of leaves cut from the same
green mulberry paper. To help frame the invitation panel, a 3/8"
border of Japanese cane paper was added to the top and bottom.
